15 MUST-Visit Hawker Centres in Singapore

Looking for a Gastronomic adventure in Singapore that won't break your bank? Here are some of Singapore's Hawker centers for cheap and good food lovers, offering an array of irresistible dishes at affordable prices. Whether you're a local looking for a quick and tasty meal or a tourist eager to sample authentic Singaporean cuisine, these top hawker centers are a MUST-visit for anyone craving to fill up the tummy with tasty experiences. Here you can uncover the best hawker centers you should add to your Foodie Bucket list:

(1) Maxwell Food Centre - A lot of tourists go there to queue for Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice. But there are definitely other nice and worthy to try stalls. Such as the Fish Village. Here you can indulge in budget-friendly Hong Kong-style steamed fish at Fish Village in Maxwell, priced from $8 to $25, amidst delicious food stalls.

(2) Chinatown Complex Food Centre - Serves a variety of affordable traditional local dishes. The downside is it can be quite stuffy depending on where you sit; consider bringing a portable fan.

(3) Tekka Centre - Renowned for its Indian cuisine, especially the prata and biryani. Surprisingly, the non-Indian dishes like chicken rice are also excellent.

(4) Old Airport Road Food Centre - One of my favorite places to eat, famous for its Hokkien mee, carrot cake, and more. I love their range, from traditional soup to fresh seafood from Tzu Char stalls as well. Also, check out Lau Pa Sat Cooked Food stall for cockles, fruit rojak, and cuttlefish.

(5) Lau Pa Sat - Speaking of the original Lau Pa Sat, it's a fantastic centralized area where friends can gather, enjoy the city vibe, and savor a mix of local and international cuisines. At night, the road closes for a street dining experience.

(6) Tiong Bahru Market - Tiong Bahru Market Hawker offers a unique morning vibe compared to other hawkers, which I truly enjoy. It's known for its traditional breakfast and local delights. One standout is the famous Tiong Bahru Fishball stall, which specializes in fish balls and fish cakes and manages to thrive despite the high rental costs. Amazing!

(7) Amoy Street Food Centre - Amoy Street Food Centre presents a delightful fusion of traditional and modern hawker dishes, catering to a wide range of palates.

(8) Hong Lim Food Centre - Chinatown's Hong Lim Market & Food Center is a haven for renowned local delights. A MUST-try is also Tuck Kee (Ipoh) Sah Hor Fun, famous for its Crayfish Prawn Hor Fun, priced at $12. Despite inflation, this dish has remained a favorite for over a decade. Hong Lim Market & Food Center has a variety of old-school and authentic flavors to explore.

(9) Adam Road Food Centre - Adam Road Food Centre is a perfect spot for a late dinner or supper with friends, offering delicious food. It's renowned for nasi lemak and satay.

(10) Albert Centre Market & Food Centre - This option is significantly more affordable than anywhere else in the Bugis area. I adore the wide variety of delicious food available, especially the renowned clay-pot rice and duck rice.

(11) Chomp Chomp Food Centre - Chomp Chomp is a place every Singaporean knows, filled with nostalgic memories of enjoying BBQ chicken wings and large sugarcane drinks. There's also a tze char stall for more variety, especially for BBQ seafood.

(13) Pasir Panjang Food Centre - This is where the famous Char Kway Teow topped with many vegetables originated. I adore the Tzu Char food and the Char Kway Teow here. While it's more convenient for those in the West, it's worth the drive from other parts of Singapore.

(14) One Punggol Hawker Centre - Impressed by One Punggol Hawker Centre's diverse range, blending modern and traditional cuisines seamlessly. Unique stalls include Changi Village Fried Hokkien Mee and Hakko LeiPoPo.

(15) Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre - Renowned for its expansive hawker center hosting famous stalls with a long-standing presence, both physically and online.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, bring your appetite, and embark on a hawker center hopping adventure across Singapore! Whether you're craving hearty chicken rice, flavorful laksa, or indulgent roti prata, these hawker centers have got you covered. Your taste buds—and of course, your wallet—will thank you for it!
