Lao Ma Bàn Mian Opens at West Mall: Authentic Taiwanese Noodles, Boba Milk Tea & Must-Try Dishes in Singapore

I'm actually so happy that a Taiwanese food outlet has finally opened near my place—and Lao Ma Bàn Mian 老媽拌麵 at West Mall is the first they’ve opened in Southeast Asia.

A Sneak Peek Into the Flavors of Taiwan

The dishes are cooked with deep, rich flavour yet are not overly salted. The blend is pretty balanced and definitely carries that pinch of Taiwanese essence, especially the Dried Scallops Huadiao Chicken Noodles Soup.

I’ve never really had appetisers like this in Taiwan, so I must say the serving style is quite unique for me, for a Taiwanese restaurant in Singapore.

As a spinach lover familiar with how it's usually prepared, I must say the way they did it here is a slay! So yes—spinach lovers, go try the Blanched Vegetables with Fried Shallots.

When asked if I had a least favourite dish—I honestly don't. But if I had to pick, I’d say the No. 18 Ruby Black Tea could be more flavourful. Still, if you like something aromatic with a lighter taste, you may try it.

As for me, I really loved the Taiwan Milk Tea with Boba. Finally, the Authentic Taiwanese Milk Tea (with Boba) in Singapore—plus, served in a comfy, Taiwan-vibe restaurant that’s so near my place.

Another drink that stood out? The Wintermelon Lemon Tea. I expected it to be very sweet or very sour—but nope! The blend was amazing. You can’t really taste the sweetness of the wintermelon, but the aroma is there, and it's super refreshing—not sour at all. Perfect!

Oh, and if you’re a fan of Pork chop, go for the Garlic Fermented Soy Pork Chop Noodles—it’s one of their recommended highlights.

And for all pi dan (century egg) lovers—there’s a pasta-like dish for you: Chili Oil Preserved Egg & Meat Sauce Guan Miao Wavy Mian. A lot of non–pi dan lovers liked it too—including Tracy, who dined with me. Hahaa.

So Don’t say Bo Jio!

Whether you’re a long-time fan of Taiwanese cuisine or new to these flavors, this is one dining experience you won’t want to miss.

Thank you Lobangsiah for having me – this is a sponsored meal.
