Last year, we celebrated the Year of the Dog with insanely cute doggy Yu Sheng. This year, it just got a little chubby and cuter with Piggies Yu Sheng for Year of the Pig.
Chinese New Year is just less than a month away, in fact just a week plus away. Every family and friends should be planning and discussing for their reunion dinner for the Year of the Pig. CNY Feasting is never complete, without tossing Lou Hei.
So here I am, having my first Lou Hei of the year at Amara Hotel.
Here's Prosperity Eight Treasures Yu Sheng with that shy chubby pig face on the dish. It's so cute isn't it?
This set includes Amara's special housemade spicy Sze Chuan dressing, premium ingredients such as abalone slices, fresh salmon, jellyfish, ikura (salmon caviar), tobiko (flying fish roe) and fried fish skin and finely shredded vegetables.

Pumpkin lover would love Braised Pumpkin Soup with Superior Fish Maw. It's rare to see rich yellow pumpkin soup for Chinese dishes, the pumpkin is commonly used for western for soups but not the Chinese soups. This is a fusion of Chinese and western coming together as one.
Next dish is also my favourite dish of the day; Soy Baked Sea Perch with Spinach in Bonito Sauce. I would have thought that I was eating Cod Fish if no one tells me it's actually not Cod Fish. I've learnt something new today, Sea Perch belongs to the same family as Cod Fish, however, it's different fishes. The taste and texture are so similar, I bet you won't be able to differentiate too.
Who doesn't love Peking Duck? Beijing Roasted Duck is one of the very popular dishes among Chinese, and it's also a MUST HAVE when you feast this CNY! Have you ever wonder what's the difference from Peking duck and Beijing duck? They are the same.
Both Beijing and Peking actually refer to the same two characters in Chinese, that is, 北京. Their different spellings are a result of them being products of different romanization systems. Beijing, the newer of the two, is based on Hanyu Pinyin, which is the current standard romanization system for Mandarin Chinese.
Here's Wok-Fried Fragrant Rice with Chinese Sausage and Mushroom, the rice grain is soft and doesn't taste oily at all.
Pairing the Fragrant rice with Sichuan Style Wok-fried Chicken with Dried Red Chilli aka Mala Chicken will be satisfying for Mala and Spicy lover. You really get the "numb-ness" on your tongue by eating this. Some say Shiok, some say hot lah! So remember to get your drinks ready before your first bite.
I love looking at the attractive varieties of Dessert that is available for my stomach space! Firstly we've the Lychee Charlotte Cake:
Cherry Blossom Sugee Cake is full of micro details of Cherry Blossom which makes it a feast for the eyes too.
Drool for New York Cheescake if you're a Cheesecake lover!
Last but not least, the Lucky shaped Gold Ingot Fruit Cake bring riches into your life, your bae, your family, loves ones and coworkers while you celebrate this CNY together.
You may also enjoy many other varieties of sweet treats!
Hope you'll have fun tossing the Yu Sheng as well as Feasting good food this Chinese New Year!
