CNY Yummies: Manee Pineapple Tart Cakes!

Why do we eat Pineapple Tarts / Cakes during Chinese New Year?
These savoury and delicious tarts are called “Ong Lai” in Hokkien which means prosperity comes in direct translation. As the Chinese tradition believes that luck and prosperity are very crucial, pineapple tarts is a must-have during Chinese New Year.

The use of pineapples as decor has also become very much Popular in recent years. The pineapple quickly became a symbol of status, wealth and hospitality, where it was frequently used as centrepiece decorations.

Coming back to the topic! Today, I've got to try Manee Pineapple Tart Cakes from April's Bakery! Unlike the traditional Pineapple tarts which are sometimes too sticky or sweet, I prefer these New Generation of Pineapple tarts by April's Bakery. It has a strong fragrance of butter on the outer skin and a gentle tart bite is all good and comfortable. Non-crispy tart, love the internal filling especially because it's not too sticky and taste is not too sweet. Blended well!
