Authentic German Delights at Joo Chiat: Werner's Oven

Talking about Werner's Oven it isn't just simply because of their good food and services.
Nancy who is running the place is the key to having the food business growing so well. The restaurant was named after her German husband, Werner Hochbaum and is the first German delights restaurant ever opened in Singapore. Auntie Nancy's way of serving her customers feels super heartwarming and homely to many people, especially overseas travelers who lives down the road.

It's heartwarming and indulging for many of the neighborhood people to have a comfortable place with fulfilling varieties of good food for breakfast daily at Werner's Oven. Auntie Nancy remembers well what her regular customers would order, which is something that touches my heart too. She greets every single customer who visited her restaurant in persons. I believe beyond service, Auntie Nancy is an extremely tactful and nice lady who loves to communicate with her customer.

So much of praise for Auntie Nancy, now let's come back to the Food.

I've tasted a few of their more Popular dishes with my Fiancee Raymond at Werner's Oven, here's our review for each dishes:

Beef Goulash Soup
The beef soup is uniquely tasty and it is very appetizing, just nice it was our first dish at Werner's oven. Raymond likes to eat together with the crispy bread.

Gemischter Brotkorb also known as Bread Basket
I think Bread basket is good for people who are pretty much in love with eating bread! It comes with assorted German bread thoughtfully chosen by the restaurant, along served butter for your preferences.

Farmer's Sausage is also Werner's Oven signature dish and it is Popular for both Germans travelers and also local who loves sausages. The sausages were hand-made thoughtfully by Werner's Oven, blending with Asia fusion spices which is an unique find here in Singapore and ofcourse can't be found elsewhere.

Knusperiege Schweinehaxe includes crispy pork knuckleserved with sauerkraut and mashed potato. This dish is specially good for Pork knuckles lover as well as a big eater. The portion is just too generous, two of us can never be able to finish it.

Traditional German Almond Cake can be chosen from Werner's Oven very own homemade bread shelf in their restaurant. Many of the bread that Werner's Oven produce are traditional, and it is super tasty and fresh.
For this German Almond Cake, it is Soft on the external layer and even softer in the internal layer of the bread. Comes with glazed crunchy almonds on its toppings and butter fillings between the two soft textured bread, a comfortable bite with both sweetness and tasty overalls.

Cinnamon Bread can also be chosen off the shelf, soft in the overall. Comfort in eating.

Werner's Oven has been with us for about 28 year. However, shifted from places to places, 3 years at Parkway building, 5 years at Simpang Bedok, 16 years at Upper East Coast and finally 4 years at Joo Chiat. And very soon, they are opening another branch in central of Singapore at 51 Telok Ayer Street.
